Tomorrow I will be getting my eyes checked. The last time I had my eyes checked was like when I was like in 8th grade or freshmen year (I’m 25 now so its been a while). The last time I had my eyes checked the eye doctor said that I have a cataract in one of my eyes. I’m supposed to be wearing glasses but I haven’t wore my glasses in a long time.

I’m a little bit nervous cause I haven’t had my eyes checked in a long time. My question is what exactly are cataracts and can it be fixed? Would it be fixed by surgery or with some sort of laser? Also would the surgery make my vision better? How long is recovery time? Please tell me anything you know about cataracts and cataract surgery?

Considering I haven’t had my eyes checked in a while should I wear my old eyeglasses today to get used to the glasses?

I am having PRK laser eye surgery done soon. What is the recovery like and how long until I am fully recovered?

I am starting to doing researches on eyes surgery or laser before have it done. The question is, what is the best site where I can compared to other eyes correction agents such as Laskic to some other? Also I would like to learn more about it before making my own decisions.

Any tips and advice would be greatly help.

My son is 26 yrs old and was diagnosed soon after birth with retinopathy of prematurity. The retina has detached and has been reattached via laser surgery. He can see shadows and can count fingers but not really see. Now his new opthalmologist says his eye pressure is 25, Does a blind person have the same risk of glaucoma?

If you have a retinal detachment (or are about to have one), are there any symptoms? Like flashes?

I started seeing floaters a while back, and, worried, I went to my optometrist. He said there MIGHT be some thin spots on my retina, and that I MIGHT need laser surgery. Scared, I went to 2 more independent eye doctors, and they both said my retinas look fine, and that the floaters are normal for people with such a high degree of myopia like myself (around -12). However, they both warned that, if I should start seeing flashes (which I haven’t), I should go see them immediately.

So my question: What do you think? DO I have thin spots on my retina. I have a feeling the doctors aren’t quite sure themselves. The first one said, I MIGHT because there are “glittery” areas on my retina. But possibly he was seeing a epiretinal membrane (?). Do you think that could look like a thin spot…? And, again, I don’t see any flashes.

Anyway, what should I do? Some doctors say I MIGHT need laser treatment, others say my retinas looks fine. I’m confused!!!

BTW, can anyone describe the flashes one sees before a retinal detachment? Are they across your entire vision or just bright spots or tiny dots?

a person i know wants to get lazer eye sugary and the want to get the Type when they work in the back of the eye. whats that Type called. how long is the usual recovery. thanks!
