What does the Navy think about laser eye surgery? Would it disqualify me from being a SEAL?
If my vision is worse than the minimum for SEALs, could I have it corrected by laser eye surgery and still be eligible?

Question about eye Cataracts?
Tomorrow I will be getting my eyes checked. The last time I had my eyes checked was like when I was like in 8th grade or freshmen year (I’m 25 now so its been a while). The last time I had my eyes checked the eye doctor said that I have a cataract in one of my eyes. I’m supposed to be wearing glasses but I haven’t wore my glasses in a long time.
I’m a little bit nervous cause I haven’t had my eyes checked in a long time. My question is what exactly are cataracts and can it be fixed? Would it be fixed by surgery or with some sort of laser? Also would the surgery make my vision better? How long is recovery time? Please tell me anything you know about cataracts and cataract surgery?
Considering I haven’t had my eyes checked in a while should I wear my old eyeglasses today to get used to the glasses?
About laser surgery for eyes?
could you get your eye color changed with laser eye surgery, best answer 10 pts..
Is there a eye doctor/surgeon here?I have some questions about the “permanent contacts” surgery.?
Ok I was thinking about getting eye surgery to correct my vision when I turn 21.I recently saw on the internet about a surgery that the surgeons put on you permanent contacts and that it is more efficiant than Laser eye sugery.I already know about the perocedures and the risks but I still have some questions. Here they are:
1.How long is the recovery time after you get out of the hospital on the same day?
2.Can I have the surgery under anesthesia?I am extremely squeamish and I move alot and I think that its better that Im fully asleep.
3.The most important question of all(for me anyways):What color are the contacts? Are they clear or do they come in colors too?It would be great if they came in color.Ive always wanted to change my eyecolor permanently;well lots of people want to too.
Well thats all.I really need those answers, especially for #2 & #3.Its very important to me.Thank you for your time. You can also write to me at chichithewhitetiger@gmail.com
Where in the world should I have laser surgery for my eyes (myopy) ? About safety, price and good results?
I’m currently in Bruxelles, Belgium, and I heard that some people used to have laser surgery in Russia, Hong-Kong,Turkey, Venezuela, Brazil, and other cheaper places…But what about the safety and results of the surgery? And is it really that cheaper there?
Can you advice me?
Where should I go? Any reliable hospital or clinic? Any website? And how much will it cost formy both eyes?
Thank you in advance
Question about intraocular pressure in retinopathy of prematurity?
My son is 26 yrs old and was diagnosed soon after birth with retinopathy of prematurity. The retina has detached and has been reattached via laser surgery. He can see shadows and can count fingers but not really see. Now his new opthalmologist says his eye pressure is 25, Does a blind person have the same risk of glaucoma?
Question about my retina?
If you have a retinal detachment (or are about to have one), are there any symptoms? Like flashes?
I started seeing floaters a while back, and, worried, I went to my optometrist. He said there MIGHT be some thin spots on my retina, and that I MIGHT need laser surgery. Scared, I went to 2 more independent eye doctors, and they both said my retinas look fine, and that the floaters are normal for people with such a high degree of myopia like myself (around -12). However, they both warned that, if I should start seeing flashes (which I haven’t), I should go see them immediately.
So my question: What do you think? DO I have thin spots on my retina. I have a feeling the doctors aren’t quite sure themselves. The first one said, I MIGHT because there are “glittery” areas on my retina. But possibly he was seeing a epiretinal membrane (?). Do you think that could look like a thin spot…? And, again, I don’t see any flashes.
Anyway, what should I do? Some doctors say I MIGHT need laser treatment, others say my retinas looks fine. I’m confused!!!
Thanks for any help.
BTW, can anyone describe the flashes one sees before a retinal detachment? Are they across your entire vision or just bright spots or tiny dots?
